Max Richter
Biography
Born in Germany in 1966, Max Richter joined the world of music when he moved to England in his youth. His first piano notes were guided both by the masters of contemporary music ( Philip Glass , Steve Reich , Iannis Xenakis ) and by a certain idea of rock, from the 1960s (The Beatles , Pink Floyd ) to the Clash .
His first band, Piano Circus , in which he will work 10 years, also takes up various works by Steve Reich , Arvo Pärt or Brian Eno . That's when Richter gets a taste of electronic sounds and experimental sounds. When he left Piano Circus, he collaborated with The Future Sound of London.
His first solo albums appeared in the early 2000s. Blue Notebooks (2004) and Songs from Before (2006), in particular, partly inspired by the works of Autechre and Kraftwerk, have earned him a critical and public success. Richter took an additional step by writing the original tape of the magnificent documentary Waltz with Bashir (2008).
Testimony of his attachment to the visual arts, the latest album, Infra, released in 2010, was written for the Royal Ballet in cooperation with choreographer Wayne McGregor.
