Biography
In 2010, Dutch guitarist/singer Mark Jansen (Epica ) reunited with his two ex-comparses of After Forever , keyboardist Jack Driessen and guitarist Sander Gommans. Together, they founded MaYaN, a Death Metal Symphony band. Gommans quickly departed from the project and was replaced by Frank Schiphorst. The line-up completes with the arrival of Isaac Delahaye (Epica , guitar), Jeroen Paul Theseseling (ex- Obscura , ex-Pestilence , bass) and Ariën van Weesenbeek (Epica , ex-God Dethroned , drums). Quaterpast , the first combo album, was released in 2011. Some vocalists are invited, including Henning Bass (Firewind), Simone Simons (Epica), Floor Jansen (ex-After Forever, ex-ReVamp, Nightwish) and Laura Macri (Basse and Macri became permanent members from 2013). Shortly after the recording, Jeroen Paul Thesesseling left and Rob van der Loo (Epica ) became the new bass player. In 2013, it was Isaac Delahaye's turn to leave the band, and he was only replaced the following year by guitarist Merel Bechtold (Delain), after the release of Antagonise. On this second opus are invited to the song Floor Jansen and Marcela Bovio (ex- Stream Of Passion , also appeared at Ayreon ). New bass player change in early 2016, Roel Käller now holds the instrument. The singer George Oosthoek was incorporated later that year, and in 2017 Marcella Bovio became an official member. The third album, Dhyana , is announced for September 2018.
