Maybeshewill
Biography
Maybeshewill formed in Leicester in 2005 under the leadership of Robin Southby (Guitare) and John Helps (Guitare). Very soon, other musicians joined the band and recorded the ep Japanese Spy Transcript self-produced and released on their own label, Robot Needs Home Records. The group is already gaining a certain reputation in the UK. With this small success, Maybeshewill returns to work to complete the full-length Not For Want Of Trying, which was released in May 2008 preceded by a split with Her Name Is Calla. The band toured in Europe and Asia with And So I Watch You From Afar and 65daysofstatic among others. The second album, Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony, was released a year later, which also received a critical welcome. Musically, if the band is certainly affiliated with the Post-Rock scene, members assure themselves that they want to detach themselves from the labels and create their own style, especially since this album. The band's music is characterized by the use of keyboards and electronic sounds, recurring at Maybeshewill, as well as the absence of vocals, or by a great technical and melodic complexity. A new effort, I Was Here For A Moment, There I Was Gone, released in 2011 is filled with off-standard compositions revealing a poignant intensity at the Russian Circles. Their last one, released at the end of 2014 takes an artistic turn thanks to light and simple compositions but nevertheless extremely effective.
