Megadeth
Biography
He was fired from Metallica because of his impulsive nature and excessive drug use (it seems), but Dave Mustaine (chant/guitar) did not let himself down and sought to found his own Thrash group. In 1983, he founded Fallen Angels with bassist David Ellefson, soloist Kerry King (Slayer) and drummer Lee Rash. Shortly after the band was renamed Megadeth and saw the departure of Kerry King and Lee Rash, respectively replaced by Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson. With this line-up the band released two very good Thrash albums: Killing is my Buisness and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Megadeth quickly finds an audience because of its impressive speed and very technical compositions. In 1986 Poland and Samuelson were ousted, the first for stealing guitars from Mustaine, the second for taking the lead with him. They were replaced by Jeff Young and Chuck Belher with whom the band recorded So Far So Good... So What! in 1988. The last two were thanked the following year and Mustaine recruited Marty Friedman and Nick Menza. It was with this composition that Megadeth released in 1990 his "masterpiece" Rust In Peace , a record forming part of the metal pantheon alongside those of the other three members of the "Big Four" : Master of Puppets (Metallica ), Reign In Blood (Slayer ) and Among The Living (Anthrax ). Coutdown to Extinction in 1992 and Youthanasia in 1994 are in the same line R.I.P, always demonstrating Megadeth's talents in terms of technical composition. Hidden Treasures released in 1995 is a cover album (Black Sabbath , Alice Cooper , Sex Pistols ...) but also contains some rarity. Menza recorded a last album with Megadeth , Cryptic Writings , before pulling his reverence. Mustaine chose Jimmy DeGrasso (Suicidal Tendencies) to replace him. 1999 marks the end of Megadeth's course without fail with the release of Risk , a correct album, but well below the others by its more laid side. Yeah, like all the other bands of his day, or almost, Megadeth finally calmed down. The following year Friedman left the band in full tour, which was cancelled, giving his place to Al Pitrelli (Asia). Then, in discord with its Capitol label, the band decided to leave it for Sancturary Records, leaving its first best-of, Capitol Punishment. Little aware of Risk's semi-failure and the reaction of his fans, Megadeth released The World Needs A Hero in 2001, an album just as disappointing as its predecessor. Trisre news in 2002 as we learn that Mustaine is suffering from nerve disease that affects her left arm and that he is forced to abandon Megadeth . But two years later he returned against all expectations surrounded by Chris Poland, Jimmy Sloas and Vinnie Colaiuta to record a last album, The System Has Failed . For the following tour he recruited Glen Drover (Solist), James MacDonough (bass), and Shawn Drover (battery). Then, in the end, Mustaine announced his willingness to continue the Megadeth adventure. It will however be without MacDonough who leaves the band and is replaced by the former Black Label Society James Lomenzo. Following is a new album in 2007 : United Abominations . The year 2009 is again synonymous with change for Megadeth as Glen Drover leaves the band. His brother then recommended to Mustaine the live guitarist of Nevermore Chris Broderick. Mustaine, conquered by the man, recruits him very quickly, and even goes so far as to say that he is the best guitarist in the band's history. Broderick is actively involved in Endgame, which is released at the end of 2009. In March 2010, Megadeth began the Rust in Peace 20th Anniversary Tour in North America, with Testament and Exodus. During this tour, Megadeth plays Rust in Peace in its entirety to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album. In February 2010, the band's first bass player, David Ellfson, joined Megadeth after eight years of absence. In 2010 Megadeth participated in the Big Four with Metallica , Slayer , and Anthrax which takes place in many European countries. July 2011, during their concert in Hamburg, Germany, Megadeth plays a new song from his new album, Thirteen , which is released on November 1, 2011. Shortly after the release of the album, Dave Mustaine explains that after four years of absence, there will be a new Gigantour tour in early 2012. The line-up of the fourth annual edition consists of Motörhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil alongside Megadeth. Following the conclusion of a new Gigantour , Rob Zombie and Megadeth announced nine dates in the United States for May 2012. Super Collider , released in 2013, and debuted in sixth place on Billboard 200, the band's highest position since Youthanasia in 1994. The reviews of the album, however, were largely negative. Shortly after the release of Super Collider, Mustaine revealed that he had thought about recording a fifteenth Megadeth album. According to him, this motivation was caused by the death of guitarist Jeff Hanneman of the Slayer group, which gave him a sense of mortality. End 2015 announces the release in 2016 of his fifteenth album: Dystopia . For this new album Mustaine called Chris Adler ( Lamb of God) for the battery.
