Biography

Ardue is the task of summarizing Ministry ... From the beginnings to today the band has come a huge path that earned it the status of founding father of industrial music (with NIN). Even though the group influenced, motivated or inspired most of the current industrial-metal formations (Marylin Manson , Rammstein , Mass Hysteria , Punish Yourself , Sin to name but a few) it has been able to stay far away from the technological looks to the taste of the day by preserving dancing samples and especially preserving their unique identity. It is with a certain amusingness that one plunges his tympanos into the first steps of Al Jourgensen (song, guitar, harmonica ...) in the mid-1980s, with With Sympathy in 83 and Twitch in 86, where electronics tries to match with the humanoid aspect without real success. The arrival of Paul Barker (low ...) in 1988 will change the situation. The Land Of Rape And Honey unveils the foundations of what Ministry will become and this pillar will be strengthened by the very good The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste in 89 (how to forget the fabulous Burning inside ...). A live later and a few years later left time for the duo to develop one of the most tortuous discs written in the 1990s: Psalm 69. Again a break is marked. Electronics makes room for glaucous and dirty atmospheres, repetitive riffs and an unshakeable binary rhythm. Filth Pig , released in 1996, still sows the audience and demonstrates the creative ability of the group through more laid composition, less aggressive with a more present bass and a more worked song. The Darkside Of The Spoon will end by breaking the nail 3 years later with a dimension that far exceeds the metal-industrial ersatz that came into being. Ministry appears in the film I.A (or A.I. depends on where we place ourselves) with the disturbing What about us ? which can only attify our curiosity whose expectations will hardly be met by the release of a live in 2002 ( Sphinctour ). Once again we will be taken against foot with an Animositisomina returning to what Barker and Jourgensen are capable of producing darker. The apparently late period of the 69th psalm restored his chaotic reign. Paul Barker's early departure sounded like a blow to the Ministry, which was beheaded by one of his thinking heads, which did not prevent Jourgensen from going back to work and following on a trilogy dedicated to the miseries of the Bush administration. Jourgensen finally decided to stop Ministry after the release of The Last Sucker. And in fact no, too "heavy" falls by Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters, the project of country core by Al and Mike Scaccia (guitarist who joined Ministry in 1989) give birth to Relapse released in 2012 again presented as the latest studio album by Ministry. Mike Scaccia died of a heart attack in 2013, causing Al to release the final sessions recorded with his guitarist always on an ultimate album: From Beer to Eternity.
