Biography

Minsk was formed in 2002, in the vicinity of Chicago. Quatuor practicing a post-hardcore doomy with tribal atmospheres, the group borrows its name from the capital of Belarus which, it is said, reborn from its ashes after each destruction. The Americans quickly recorded a first demo, Burning, in 2003, before signing on Loss Recordings and releasing Out Of A Center Which Is Neither Dead Nor Alive in 2005, produced by Buried At Sea guitarist.
Minsk then began an international tour, alongside Sunn O))), Boris or High On Fire and plunged into the writing of The Ritual Fires Of Abandonment , darker, more tribal than its predecessor and amplifying their echoes with the public. later signed at Relapse Records, early 2009, the combo continues in the same direction by recording With Echoes In The Movement Of Stone for the summer after a remarkable passage to Roadburn. As a result, a split followed with Unarthly Trance as well as with US Christmas and Harvestman. However, the group was relatively discreet thereafter and became hiatus between 2011 and 2013. It takes until 2015 for the now quintet to resurface with The Crash And The Draw.
