Misery Signals
Biography
Misery Signals was born in 2002 when Kyle Johnson and Ryan Morgan, then bassist and guitarist of 7 Angels 7 Plagues, recruited Jesse Zaraska, a singer from Compromise who had just ceased all activity since a van accident cost the lives of two of his members. Well decided to move forward, the band is about to enter the studio to record its second album when the drummer of the time throws the sponge. Wishing to draw a line on this part of their history, the remaining three members change their names and integrate Branden Morgan (Battery) and Stuart Ross (Guitare), an old friend of Zaraska. Despite the geographical location of its members, scattered between Edmonton and Milwaukee, the quintet managed to find the will to write and compose pieces. This perseverance pays off. The band recorded a first ep at State Of The Art Recordings, a label owned by 7 Angels 7 Plagues. Despite a confidential distribution, Misery Signals built a small reputation leading him to make four tours in the United States with Bury Your Dead , Undying , Shattered Realm and Every Time I Die , which fell under the band's charm. Thanks to his intermediary, Misery Signals joined Ferret Music ( Madball , As I Lay Dying , Every Time I Die ) and recorded his first album under the direction of a friend of Zaraska, Devin Townsend . Entitled Of Malice And The Magnum Heart , sentence taken from the poem of a Compromise member who died in the accident, the album is a success. During the following tour, the band shares the poster with confirmed bands such as Dillinger Escape Plan , Bleeding Through or Eighteen Visions and appears in the programming of famous festivals such as Hellfest or New England Metal. However, the climate is not on a fine footing between Zaraska and the rest of the troupe. He left the training in 2006. Despite all the accumulated tests, Misery Signals managed to bounce back thanks to Karl Shubach, a perfect unknown recruited during a test where the candidates had to put their voice on a piece of the group. The band then invested the studio of Ben Schigel ( Chimaira , Zao ) in Cleveland in spring 2006 to record their second album. The release of Mirrors in August of the same year marks a renaissance for Misery Signals . The band embarks on a leading tour alongside Since By Man, Scarlet and Ligeia, following a series of concerts opening Darkest Hour. In July 2008, the Americans released, Controller before continuing with a big tour to promote the album. In 2009 and 2010, most members of Misery Signals were involved in parallel projects, but their return in 2011 was not smooth, as Stuart Ross and Kyle Johnson decided not to return to the group. The combo decided to continue the adventure with the recruitment of Gregory Thomas (Guitare) and Kent Wren (Basse) and the recording of a new album expected in 2012.
