Molodoi
Biography
"How many are you in the room? Form free rock bands!" These were the last words made by François at the last farewell concert of Béruier Noir in November 1989. A single period came to an end. What would they become? While Loran walked his nomadic punk guitar in the villages of the hexagon, François resumed studies of languages (Vietnamese), far from the concert halls. This rest will not last long since since since 1990 his meeting with Spirou and Nanouche, two Dijon brothers, will give birth to a new group, Molodoi (new reference to Orange Mécanique). Joined by Pascal Kung-Fu, already present at the saxo on Concerto for the berus , and accompanied by a rhythm box, Irrecoverables... is quickly closed. A priori, the resemblance with the pre-cited group is rather striking! But a real drummer will soon appear, and although Molodoi makes his own personality. The Béru page is indeed turned: the music is much less aggressive, more worked, more technical and less taken over. Throughout the albums and maxis, the band develops a rather festive atmosphere, in a vein at once oi!, punk, ska, and simply rock. François's pen is more poetic, more posing, but still also denunciating, addressing themes already recurring in the BxN era. With a difference that the east (which fascinates François) takes more and more place, until the last album Tango Massai . A live album, titled We Are Here! , will be released in 1993 and will make the band feel energy on stage. While the first productions were released by New Rose on Nada Division, the label that François created, the band will end up on a label bought by the giant Sony. This will give them a better promotion, with the title "Ame Errante" being regularly broadcast on television and radio. However, differences in the future of the group will lead to its dissolution. Moreover, Molodoi had to carry the heavy weight of the Black Berurier heritage, disappointing many fans who thought they were following a similar route... A posthumous compilation album, Rebelle Anonymous , will be released in 1999. Today, Molodoi is a forgotten group, despite some success in their time. Their albums have grown pretty old, the sound is really not terrible and Francis' texts are not put forward as they would deserve. A new mix (like the discography of the Berus – their history is inseparable from them, you will understand) would not be luxury and would do them a crazy good! However, the band may well have a second life in the near future, orchestrated by the Folklore of the World Zone, a DVD being apparently in preparation...
