Biography

Formed in 1999 after fortuitous encounters in the Swiss experimental scene, the Monno quartet sets up its headquarters in Lausanne, where each member tries to pose his ideas for the first concerts of the formation in 2002. The band moved to Berlin, where it entered into an agreement with Subvedian Recordings (subdivision of Conspiracy Records) for its first album, Candlelight Technology . At the borders of the lightest hardcore and a freejazz, Monno amuses with the tools that allow him to make controlled noise. Computer, improvised percussion, larsens, everything that allows the formation to hack, create strange and unusual sounds pass there. Relatively well received by a limited audience, however, this first album does not know a wide distribution through hardcore and noise scenes. It still allows the band to go on tour with Melt Banana and Suicidós Martin Rev, then to be invited by Lightning Bolt to share his European tour. Back in Germany, Monno began to think about new experiments for his next album, and tested his ideas on a new tour with Isis and Jesu, crowned by a memorable concert in Ljubljana, which marked the formation concerning the voice to follow for the continuity of his work. Thus, the saxophone is replaced by guitars, which reproduce its melodies in a much more aggressive way, and computers take a much more prominent place than before, creating sound walls and a tingling of very dirty details in the middle of a base that has become very rock. The band's second album, Error , is therefore incredibly thick and sticky, and deserves the price of perseverance and openness. In 2008, Monno directed his music towards a more obscure form with Ghosts, released on the Conspiracy Records label.
