Mono
Biography
It's hard to set a date on Mono's formation. Tokyoite Takaarita Goto started working on the project in January 2000 and produced some compositions, partly influenced by guitarist Loren Connors. His quest for musicians, which began a year earlier, found a first result in the arrival of his always friend, Yoda, soon joined by bassist Tamaki and drummer Yasunori Takada. The band recorded a first ep called Hey You on the label Forty 4. The latter is followed by the first album, Under The Pipal Tree , which gets very good reviews from the specialized press. In 2003, Mono finished recording his second opus, One Step More And You Die . The ensuing tour in the United States and Sweden leaves, however, in the minds of the members a taste for dissatisfaction due in particular to the behavior of some spectators. A little disappointed, Mono is refocusing on his remix project from his latest album. New York Soundtracks is a direct response to the attacks of 11 September 2001 by the Japanese group, combining several stage personalities including Loren Connors. The band released its third album, Walking Cloud And Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered And The Sun Shined, after which a new tour began. After a collaboration with the Japanese World's End Girlfriend on Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain , Mono recorded You Are There and embarked on a great getaway through Australia, the States, alongside High On Fire , as well as in Europe. For 2007, the Japanese released a collection of all their eps, as well as a DVD documentary entitled The Sky Remains The Same As Ever. Then followed Hymn To The Immortal Wind, For My Parents, The Last Dawn and Rays Of Darkness. After a split with The Ocean in 2015, Mono returned in 2016 with Requiem For Hell, then in 2019 with Nowhere Now Here.
