Moonsorrow

Moonsorrow is a band from Epic Heathen Metal Finland (understand pagan epic metal, term used by members themselves to define their sound). Only composed in advance of the cousins Sorvali: Vile (chant, bass) and Henri (among other keyboardist of Finntroll since 1998, as well as on the eponymous album d-Ensiferum ), the band first released demos (Thorns of Ice in 1996, Promo and Metsä in 1997) more related to melodic black metal rather than to the style that is known to him today but which unfortunately will never be born for various reasons. In 1999 the band signed with Plasmatica Records and Tämä Ikuinen Talvi - another demo - was published ... for good (at the same time the two men were joined by Marko Tarvonen as drummer). Suden Uni the first album of the Finnish much more oriented towards folk and pagan sounds was released in 2000. It was after having recruited Mitja Harvilahti and Markus Eurén respecctively guitarist and keyboardist (live) that Moonsorrow made his first concerts and recorded Voimasta Ja Kunniasta at the end of 2001, first album on the label Spikefarm Records (a little earlier in the same year Tämä Ikuinen Talvi was reworked and remastered). It was in 2003 with third album Kivenkantaja that the band made itself more familiar and took off really. In 2005 Verisäkeet was the first album for which elements of atmosphere were incorporated into the band's music, during the next tour the band performed its first concert in the United States during the Heathen Crusade Metalfest in Columbia Heights. For his fifth album Moonsorrow changes creamy and releases V : Hävitetty at Spinefarm Records and pushes the progressive side of his music to the extreme since it contains only two tracks for a total duration of just over 56 minutes. Since the Finnish released an EP named Tulimyrsky in 2008 and entered the studio in autumn 2010 to record what will be their sixth album and will bear the name Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa, whose release date was set for February 28, 2011.
