Moonspell
Biography
It is necessary to go back in 1989, to find the roots of the band then known as Morbid God, it is 3 years later before the release of their first demo Serpent Angel which they opt for Moonspell. In 1994 things really started first with the release of a mini album Under The Moonspell , then with the signature at Century Media for 6 CDs. Wolfheart , the first album is produced by Waldemar Sorychta (who later produced Irreligious , Sin/Pecado and Memorial ). For the little anecdote in 2010 the Portuguese postal services used the pouch on the occasion of a limited collection of stamps with the theme "rock in Portugal". Moonspell so far anchored in a style close to Black Metal orients his music more towards gothic atmospheres for his second opus Irreligious , which was released in 1996 (it will be remastered the following year); his first single Opium (one of the group's best known tracks) contains excerpts from Portuguese poems written by Fernando Pessoa and Alvaro de Campos. 1998 saw the group enter a more experimental period, with the release of Sin/Pecado in January; the name of the album comes from the phrase Ave María purísima sin pecado concebido that can be translated by I greet you Mary very pure conceived without sin. It will soon be followed by The Butterfly Effect in 1999, opus inspired by chaos theory, it is also the most experimental discography of Moonspell incorporating many electronic and industrial elements; The production was carried out by Andy Reilly . In a more classical Gothic metal vein, Darkness and Hope (produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa producer notation of The 69 Eyes , Poisonblack , HIM and producing the next album) arrived in the bins in 2001; His artwork is the work of a Polish artist Wojciech Blasiak, some limited versions are embellished with covers such as Mr. Crowley of Ozzy Osbourne or Love Will Tear Us Apart from Joy Division. In the same spirit, the band was released The Antidote two years later (with Niclas Etelävuori d In parallel and totally linked both in history and in concept comes a book written by José Luís Peixoto or each title of the CD is linked to a chapter of the book. It will take until 2006 to have the seventh opus of Portuguese in hand, Memorial more powerful than its predecessors marks the end of the partnership with Century Media and sees the group sign at SPV . A year goes by, then Moonspell comes out
Under Satanae a reissue of songs from his first demos, followed in 2008 by the band's first DVD, hoped since 2005 and delayed by rights issues, the one who was to be called Lunar Still/13 Years of Doom, finally lands as Lusitanian Metal. The same year
Night Eternal a new album is recorded, he sees the participation of Anneke Van Giersbergen (ex The Gathering) on the single Scorpion Flower . For Alpha Noir / Omega White (whose production was performed by Tue Madsen (The Haunted , Hatesphere , Mnemic ...) also producer of Under Stanae and Night Eternal ), the band takes much longer than usual, announced in July 2010 the album is only available in April 2012 at Napalm Records. Members claim to be inspired, among others, by Bathory , King Diamond , Onlaught , the first Metallica or Testament for its composition and describe it as "the most exciting, the sexiest, the darkest, the most heavy, the most catchy" they have recorded so far. Line Up : Fernando Ribeiro (Chant) Miguel Gaspar (Battery) Ricardo Amorim (Guitare) Pedro Paixão (Clavier/Guitare) Aires Pereira (Basse)
