Mortiis

After leaving Emperor in 1993 at the age of 18 (where he was a bassist), Norwegian Mortiis flew to Sweden where he founded his own label: Dark Dugeon. In the same year, he found time to find three musicians in order to found a band under his own name, as well as to release his first album: Fodt Til A Herske with a very electronic sound but also very dark, far from the black metal universe. Some talk about Troll Metal to see Battle Metal. His albums up to The Stargate (1998) are entirely composed in the synth (even though the latter is enriched with new sounds). The Stargate released in 1998 saw the addition of new instruments such as flute or acoustic guitar, it was the last of era 1. Three years later Mortiis returned with The Smell Of Rain, an album that divided the fans due to changes to the band's sound and also to its line-up, as there was now a guitarist (Åsmund Sveinnungard), a drummer (Leo Troy) and a bass player (Levi Gawrond). His latest production The Grudge (2004, the beginning of the III era) is oriented towards an industrial rock that continues to disperse fans of the beginnings, but that brings much more... This album is also considered by the Norwegian government as a major cultural piece that can be found in the country's libraries.
Mortiis, it must be said, has the peculiarity of wearing a mask making it look like a troll. In addition, he has also participated in many projects such as Vond , Cintecele Diavolui or Fata Morgana (and can be found on many CDs as a guest, at Scum , Dope Stars Inc ., Deathstars , ...). Since 2006, Mortiis has been spending time with Angtoria , a symphonic metal band founded by Sarah Jezabel (Cradle Of Filth singer). An album and a BO are in preparation for 2006 / 2007.
