Moss Icon
Biography
Moss Icon , a band with unstable existence, was born in 1986 under the impulse of Jonathan Vance, Tonie Joy and Monica DiGialleonardo, three young musicians of this generation who, shoulders still heated by the mutiny sun of Revolution Summer , would rise and update a new face of the Hardcore later known as Emo. After extensive research to complete the lineup of the training, Moss Icon will eventually stabilize in 1987. He will follow a series of recordings and concerts confined to the limits of the underground movement, made with the means of the moment, typical of a band which, although extremely young, will participate fully in the beginnings of a new musical current in the same way as Rites Of Spring, Fugazi or Husker Du. The group split up in 1991 and their first LP, Lyburnum, will only be released posthumously in 1994, closely followed by the EP It Disappears. Two deliveries that partially recapture titles from their past discography, up until then only composed of 3 EPs, a demotape, appearances on dēobscures compilation and a Split with Silver Bearing. Some of the band's works are also reinterpretable on the one and only album of Breathing Walker , side project in which we find Mark Laurence and Jonathan Vance and more Folk and Tribal optics released in 1991. Tonie Joy spent a few years with Universal Order of Armageddon and The Great Unraveling, two groups whose combined periods of activity did not exceed five years, but with dense discography. He was also seen as a bassist at Born Againstst before their split. MI will meet in 2001 for a few concerts before disappearing for a new long hiatus.
In early 2008, Moss Icon announced that the writing of new compositions is underway with a view to a new release and suggests that live performances are possible. Moss Icon , cult and original group having laid the foundations and paved the way for most of the major evolutions of the Emotional Hardcore , continues to cross the ages and despite a story written in dotted and seems never to be able to stay away from its roots... Great.
