Motörhead
Biography
Lemmy Kilmister - Sing/Blow Phill Campbell - Guitar Mikkey Dee - Batterie Motörhead is above all Lemmy Kilmister, a former roadie by Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd who decided to start a band after being fired from Hawkwind. In 1975 he created Bastard , which soon became Motörhead for ethical reasons. While Lemmy performs bass and singing, Larry Wallace holds the guitar and Lucas Fox finds himself behind the drums. But the latter two will soon leave the band, the first leaving during the recording of On Parole, and the second shortly after the record finished. They were replaced by Eddie Clarke and Phil Taylor. Although closed in 1976, it was not until 1979 that Motörhead's first album was released, shortly after the band's second album, Motörhead, which had forever scored the Rock milieu with a new genre, faster and aggressive than anything that was done at the time (1977), the Crust. Two years later came Bomber and Overkill cult, and only a year after the same cult Ace of Spades. During the tour following Iron Fist's release in 1982, Eddie Clarke left the band and was quickly replaced by Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy), but the latter was quickly ousted after the recording of Another Perfect Day in 1983. Robertson didn't fit what Lemmy was looking for. 1983 was a pivotal year for the band as Lemmy recruited two guitarists, Phil Campbell and Wurzel, and saw Taylor's departure, replacing Pete Gill (Saxon). He was able to record the famous Orgasmatron before Taylor returned to Rock 'n' Roll in 1987. It was not until the end of the difficulties between Motörhead and his record company to see the release of 1916 in 1991. During the period separating the last two albums, the band toured a lot, notably with Alice Cooper and Slayer . The following year marked Taylor's second departure, and as a result the arrival of Mikkey Dee (King Diamond). March Ör Die came out the same year, and it should be noted that there are Slash (Guns N'Roses) and Ozzy Osbourne (ex-Black Sabbath) as guests. Then, the band gave way to Rap-Metal by releasing a duo with Ice-T ( Body Count ), "Born To Raise Hell". It was in the middle of the recording session of Sacrifice in 1995, that Wurzel released the band, again making Motörhead a trio. From there the line-up of the band remained stable and was able to record without encumbering Overnight Sensation in 1996, Snake Bite Love in 1998 , We Are Motörhead in 2000 and finally Inferno in 2004, after the release of a Best-of anthology (40 tracks !) and a live recorded in Brixton in 2003 ! It has been 30 years since Motörhead revolutionized the Rock by bringing it a new aggressiveness, and the whole state of mind that emerged behind it. Lemmy Kilmister - and his famous wart - is now an iconic figure of Rock, a true breeder of a whole generation of musicians...
