Múm
Biography
Múm was established as a quartet in 1997. 2 men, Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar While members benefit from varied background music (from amiga-core to classical training), Múm is recognized for his delicate music between electronica and glitch, mixing traditional and non-conventional instruments with the innocent and so particular voice of Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, to constitute a wonderful and childish universe.
Between some collaborations with other Icelandic artists (Sigur Rós , Kira Kira , Ólöf Arnalds among others), the band began its odyssey in 2000 with Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today is OK. From then on, Múm's electronic sounds continue to charm, whether with Finally We Are No One in 2002 or Summer Make Good in 2004.
Following the departures of the twins (Gyða, in 2002, partly resumed his studies and Kristín, in 2006), Múm reduced to a duo to release his latest album, Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy , in 2007. The two pillars of the band then surround themselves with other musicians for the tour of the album, which marks an important change for the band which then evolves in a more pop atmosphere, leaving the magical electro which made its specificity for melodies oriented to the greater audience.
