Biography
Adam Turla: singing, guitar Matt Armstrong: bass Sarah Balliet: cello, keyboards Dagan Thogerson: drums, percussions
Known for the first time in 2000 as Little Joe Gould , Bloomington's band, Indiana only released an EP before opting for the surname Murder By Death , according to Robert Moore's film Un Cadavre au dessert en français. Shortly after Waiting's release, Geoff Rickly (Thursday) discovered the combo and convinced Eyeball Records to sign them. The first album, Like the Exorcist, But More Breakdancing, is released in '02 and does not know a massive distribution or success., despite the first parts of Thursday, Cursive, ... And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Interpol ... After a short break for a split with Volta do Mar , Eyeball put the cover further on the band, including features by Geoff Rickly and Gerard Way ( My Chemical Romance ) on Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them? (a replica of Massacre to the chainsaw). As a result, they released a 7" charity in support of a seriously ill friend, Matt Davies; The cake naturally takes its name.
But success is still not at the rendezvous so Eyeball releases them. Their first claverist, Vincent Edwards, is worn out; Brandon Cooper will replace him with time to shoot a little on the Continent (with The Weakerthans in particular) and then Sarah Balliet will be in charge of the keyboards, in addition to the cello. Not finding a home, they eventually found their own label, Tent Show Records. The band's only album on their structure will be In Bocca al Lupo (2006, produced by J. Robbins ( Jets to Brazil , Jawbox , Against Me! )).
In October '07, shortly after a drummer's play, Vagrant announced that he had signed the band that was recording a new album. Red of Tooth and Claw (from Alfred Tennyson's poem "In Memoriam") appeared on 4 March '08 and the band was already on tour to promote it throughout the North American continent. In July they also come to defend him in Europe...
