Myrath
Biography
Myrath was born in 2001 under the impetus of Tunisian guitarist Malek Ben Arbia, who was only 13 years old. First known as X-Tasy, the band mainly features Blues and Heavy Metal covers. After some changes in line-up, including the integration of a keyboard into the person of Elyes Bouchoucha, the group focuses its influences on a progressive technical metal. The first Tunisian concerts are mainly composed of covers of Symphony X. The first effort, the Double Face demo, was released in 2005 but does not cross Tunisian borders. The quartet meets Kevin Codfert (a clavierist in Adagio) at a festival in Tunisia. Impressed by their music and young age, he will produce the album Hope (2007) and all the following, offering the passage to Myrath a much better international visibility, especially in France. Zaher Zorgati, considered one of Tunisia's best metal singers, joined the band after Hope's release. Desert Call was published in 2010 and then recruited the Frenchman Piwee Desfray (from Heavenly) to the battery before releasing Tales Of The Sand in 2011. He did not stay in post for long and was replaced just after the release of the album by another Frenchman, Morgan Berthet (beater for Stephan Forté , Kadinja , Frontal ... and having collaborated with Klone , Adagio ...). Myrath was the first part of Tarja (ex- Nightwish) on his 2012 European tour. At the end of 2013, Tunisians announced that a new album is on track, but it will take until 2016 to listen to Legacy (and to hear Zaher Zorgati sing in Ayreon's The Source). In 2017, the band played an exceptional concert in the ancient amphitheatre of Carthage, in their native country. Shehili , their fifth album, is released in early May 2019.
