Nada Surf
Biography
Nada Surf is one of these high school bands, in fact the band is founded in high school by three buddies with a common passion for rock, the name is chosen at that time and very soon the band records an album for a Spanish label, album that will never be released. The drummer then left adventure and was replaced by the drummer Fuzztones , the band then released Karmic EP in 1995 on Elektra allowing them to meet Ric Ocasek with whom they recorded their first real album: High/Low (1996). Powered by Popular the band explodes in sales and passes in heavy rotation on MTV, see on Fun Radio in France (yes yes at that time there was rock, even good, on these radios). But in spite of this tube stubborning the rest of the album is very bland. Nada Surf, who was well known, recorded The Proximity Effect in 1998, when the record company did not find a single to exploit and asked the band to return to the studio, the band refused to see the release of the album limited to Europe. Yet what an album! One of the best rock albums of the 90s, quite simply, in fact no single on this album, the whole album is a wonder and each track could be a single. The band was then removed from its label and after recovering Nada Surf rights, the Proximity Effect was released in 2000 in the USA via their own label. The band went back on tour and started composing again. In 2001 they recorded Let Go with Chris Fudurich (producer also of The Proximity Effect ), a mix of pop and rock he demonstrated the real talent of this group with an unusual track. In September 2005 the band returned with its 4th album: The Weight is a Gift and is preparing a new world tour...
