Biography

It all began in Seattle, known for the successes of Queensryche , Metal Church , and many other underground bands such as Forced Entry , TKO and a new band rising: Sanctuary (formed in 1985), composed of Warrel Dane (song), Jim Sheppard (bass), Lenny Rutledge (guitar), Sean Blossl (guitar) and Dave Budbill (drums). The band was spotted by Megadeth and former Metallica (Dave Mustaine) who decided to help them record their first album in 1987: Refuge Denied under the CBS/Epic Records label. Mustaine enmennes them then on tour with Megadeth. But after the release of their second album in 1990 Into The Mirror Black, the band is already in trouble with the label, and one of the guitarists decides to leave to move towards a more grunge music. It was then that Jeff Loomis, aware of the guitarist's departure, decided to send a cassette to the band, successfully since he was immediately chosen, but it would not last long, since only a few months later the band decided to separate. Only Dane, Sheppard and Loomis want to continue and exploit the vision of the metal that was common to them, their group will have the name Nevermore. They released a first eponymous album in 1995, and a year later an EP titled In Memory on Century Media, which will make them known to the general public, seducing again all former Sanctuary fans. The same year they released their second album: Politics Of Ecstasy, described by critics as a real technical masterpiece by guitarists Pat O'Brian, Jeff Loomis and especially their drummer Van Williams. But it was with their next opus Dreaming Neon Black in 1999 that Nevermore attracted the attention of the press, American radio stations and fans, the album was darker, more original, and highlighted the high-perched voice of singer Warrel Dane. The album is named "Album of the Year" by many rock/heavy magazines. For this album Tim Calvert came replaced Pat O'Brian (guitar) left to join Cannibal Corpse . After numerous tours with bands like Iced Earth , Mercyful Fate or Arch Enemy , the band decided to go to Texas in 2000 despite the departure of Tim Calvert (replaced only in 2005) with producer Andy Sneap ( Machine Head , Testament , Earth Crisis , Stuck Mojo ) and directed a new album. With more up-to-date and aggressive sounds: Dead Heart, In A Dead World is quickly propelled to the top of sales. Nevermore then toured with In Flames , Shadows Fall , Arch Enemy , Opeth , Angel Dust and are nicknamed "The Chaos Ringers " due to their phenomenal live power. In 2003 Nevermore plunges us again into his great dark, melancholic but still very heavy and powerful creativity, with Enemies Of Reality , more aggressive album thanks to Dane's voice and the technique of Williams and Loomis. The album won less critical success but remains always friendly to listen in any case. On July 26, 2005, released their new opus: This Godless Endeavor , the album is an immediate success and described as another masterpiece. The band welcomed a new guitarist, Steve Smyth. Enemies Of Reality remixed by Andy Sneap, following numerous reviews of Kelly Grays' production quality. Nevermore only signed his real comeback in May 2010 with his seventh studio album: The Obsidian Conspiracy , released by Century Media.
