Biography

Considered one of the most innovative bands of the brutal death, Nile knew in a few albums to prevail as the new safe value of American death metal. Combining brutal technical death and heavy mid-tempos on the background of Egyptian mythology, Nile knew by its originality to be one of the best death metal bands of the 2000s. Formed in 1993 by Karl Sanders (guitar/song), Chief Spires (bass/song) and drummer Pete Hammoura, Nile released a demo a year before releasing in 1998 his first album "Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-ka" (where the band was joined by guitarist Dallas Tolder-Wade). The band is immediately noticed for its unique sound, and this famous mix of brutal death metal and Egyptian melodies, supported by three songs and symphonic interludes. The band is also noticed by its lyrics far from the usual photographs of death metal: here, we talk about Egyptian mythology or even hyeroglyphic interpretation... The band then began an 18-month tour where they accompanied Morbid Angel among others. This tour will suffice to form a very strong base of fans all over the world. As the tour ended, Nile immediately returned to the studio to record Black Seeds Of Vengeance , second at work sweeping their first effort. Black Seeds Of Vengeance indeed has a more atmospheric dimension and a heavier sound, which will become the style of Nile . The band went back on tour and left Chief Spires and Pete Hammoura, who would be replaced respectively by Jon Vesano and especially Tony Laureano (ex- Angel Corpse,ex- Malevolent Creation), a battery monster combining speed and technique. With this new line-up, Nile releases his best album In Their Darkened Shrines , a monster of technique, ambience and brutality. The performance of Tony Laureano behind the drums remains one of the best in the history of death metal. The album is acclaimed by all critics and the band is back on one of its gigantic tours, this time with Origin and Hate Eternal . In 2005, after almost three years of world tours, Tony Laureano and Jon Vesano left the adventure. The line-up is reworked again, this time with the Greek George Kollias (ex- Nightfall) on the battery. Mi-2005 releases Annihilation Of The Wicked , a new faster and technology-oriented burn. Once again, the band toured and hired Joe Payne on bass, a young bass player of just 19 years. Today, Nile is still on tour, and the best for the future...
