Ningizzia
Biography
Ningizzia was born in 1997 from the international collaboration between two passionate musicians of Doom, Stéphane Peudupin (French, guitarist at Inborn Suffering) and Niclas Frohagen (Swedish, also involved in Forest of Shadows). The distance preventing any repetition, they decide to work together via the Internet, just to see how far they could go with the help of technology. They choose the name of Ningizzia , in reference to the ancient Mesopotamian deity guardian of the gates of Paradise in the other world. It was in 1998 that the "group" released its first production, a demo entitled The Dark Path , giving in a Doom register heavily influenced Death Metal. The record quickly received praise throughout the international Doom scene, and about a week after its release, the labels began to show interest, for the greatest surprise of the duo. With this unexpected success, the two brothers began recording new songs between 1998 and 1999, sometimes with the help of guests such as Jenny Frohagen (chant), Micce Andersson (violon) and Sandra Sundelin (flûte). Current 1999, Dragonflight Records offers the band the opportunity to appear on a compilation entitled The Cold, the Silent . This will be done with the song Beneath the Silent Moon, which will receive very favorable reviews. The same year saw a renewed interest in the demo, since Impaler of Trendies reissued it as a cassette. In mid-2000, the band decided to record an album, whether it was released or not. Everything will be recorded between 2000 and 2001, with the help of a new flautist, Anna Ekbladh. The training must then face a big blow. Having finally been signed by an obscure label, the production of their songs is delayed, and before anything can be released, the label in question goes bankrupt and disappears. Fortunately, the band managed to bring out in 2003 everything that had been lost thanks to the label of Richard Loudin (Despond , Monolithe ...), Haceldama Productions . His first album was finally released, entitled Dolorous Novella, whose style was defined by the band as "Haunting Melancholic Dark Doom Metal with female chants, flute and violin". A small pearl by Doom Death melodic, it finally allows the group to gain fame and to be among the best European bands of the genre, with Forest of Shadows and Inborn Suffering precisely, as well as Swallow the Sun . For the time being, Ningizzia plans to give some concerts one day, in France and Sweden, and to start recording a second album in Sweden.
