Biography

Nirnaeth is a French Black/Death Metal band formed in 2001 around Mutill (Guitare) and Malaria (Basse), two Metal Extreme fans whose influences include Immortal, Dissection and Morbid Angel. In 2002, they joined Pat Yamael (Battery) and Zig (Chant). The name Nirnaeth is chosen by the quartet, which is a reference to Tolkien's universe. In 2004, the band released its first recording, a four-track demo called Nothing But Ashes, which laid the musical bases of the band and focused on pain and madness. Two years later, the French took the step of the first album, Thrown Athwart The Darkness, which was published by the North label of France Great Dane Records. The second opus will be released in 2009 and entitled Splendor Of The Abyss . It allows Nirnaeth to follow the dates in France and Europe. It follows a long period of inactivity. In 2015 Nirnaeth returns to the front of the stage with a new drummer, Vagorn, and a most convincing performance at Gohelle Fest. A split with Azziard was released in 2016 at Kaotoxin Records.
