No Doubt
Biography
It was under the impetus of Eric Stefani (claviers) and John Spence (chant) that No Doubt was created in 1986, and Eric quickly gathered knowledge to repeat among them his sister Gwen (song secondary and then principal), they met Tony Kanal (bass) at one of their very first concerts, Tom Dumont (guitare) will join them at the end of 1988, as did Adrian Young (battery) in the aftermath. John Spence very difficult to manage his leadership position will die in December 1987, the members present will decide at first to stop the adventure, but will be delighted very quickly and will ask Gwen Stefani to ensure the singing alone. While going to one of their concerts, Tony Ferguson, a member of the very recent Interscope label, will be impressed by the energy delivered on stage, as well as by the stage presence of Gwen, he signs No Doubt for several albums, the first eponymous in a pure ska register will be released in 1992, he will suffer a cunning commercial failure, the label going as far as not to take care of the promotion. The next country tour will be the same, as the band totally struggled to attract crowds as it could in California, so Eric will begin to disinterest his comrades. Not discouraged No Doubt will start tagging on a new album in 1993, he will send some essays to Interscope which will refuse the majority, that's when he will start working with producer Matthew Wilder, Eric not supporting that a stranger to the band gives his opinion will eventually leave in 1994. Perplexed by the idea of continuing the adventure, Interscope will find an arrangement with Trauma records to remove a thorn from the foot, the second opus will be self-produced, The Beacon Street Collection (1995) with more grunge accents and punk rock, will be much better received by the public. Only six months pass and No Doubt comes back with Tragic Kingdom, which Trauma will this time agree to sign, a mostly ska-punk album with here reggae, flamenco or rock garage passages, the first single Just a Girl is a complete one (it will be the same for Spiderwebs and Don的t Speak). The band goes on a world tour for more than two years, is nominated for the Grammy Awards, the sales are burning to climb to more than 16 million, the first consequence is that the previous opus also take off, Interscope who realizes his stupidity tries to recover the baby give to Trauma, will follow months of trial. Gwen Stephani began projects in parallel, collaborating with The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Prince, Fishbone, and Bush. No Doubt's business resumed in 2000 with Return Of Saturn , the success though inferior to its predecessor will be at the rendezvous, the tone is generally darker and the lyrics deeper than in the past, it will be followed by Rock Steady , mischievous offering dub and synthpop tracks at the end of 2001. After a Greatest Hits in 2003, Gwen starts solo, Tom Dumont and Tony Kanal also embark on other projects, and naturally No Doubt pauses. In 2008 while Stefani is still very busy with his second solo album, the other members decide to start composing on their side while waiting for the news of their singer to settle down, after a first announcement for 2010 in support of a reformation tour, Push and Shove will finally have to wait until September 2012 before attributing in the bins, the welcome of the critic for what is no more nor less than a big review of what the band proposed throughout its career is rather favorable.
