Norma Jean
Biography
Norma Jean formed in 1997 under the name of Luti-Kriss, then acting in a dark and unhealthy fusion, but following various confusions with the rapper Ludacris, the group decided to change its name to Norma Jean (in reference to Marylin Monroe, also known as this. Norma Jean also means "Patterns of grace and mercy", "Les Models de Grace et PitiƩ".) after the release of an Ep 5Ep in 2000 and a first album Throwing Myself in 2001.
The first album by Norma Jean , Kiss the martyr and injury the child , was released on Solid State in August 2002. Unfortunately, it will take more than a year to see him land in Europe. Like Underoath , also signed on Solid State , Norma John likes to permeate her texts with biblical and Christian references. Yet Norma Jean is one of these hardcore groups of extreme violence and darkness like Converge or His Hero is gone. The contrast is striking. In 2002, Josh Scogin (chant), left the band and founded The Chariot in 2004, in the same vein. He was replaced by Brad Norris from 2002 to 2004. He toured Bless The Martyr And Kiss The Child. Cory Brandan arrived and assured the vocal parts from 2004, recording in the O'God The Aftermath, more violent than his predecessor. In 2006, the band returned with a more accessible album, Redeemer . Unfortunately, Daniel Davidson left Norma Jean, replaced by Chris Raines. 2008 sees the return of Norma Jean with The Anti Mother . Some songs filter early in the year, showing a more melodic musical orientation, while guests like Chino Moreno (Deftones ) or Page Hamilton ( Helmet ) collaborate in writing The Anti Mother . After a series of concerts, the combo focuses on writing new titles that they let filter on the internet via Lives videos (Kill More Presidents) until the release of Meridional. The album is soon hailed by critics: 4/5 at Revover, 90% at AbsolutePunk, ... Almost 10,000 copies of the album are sold the first week in the USA and the band adds some bonus tracks available on some legal download platforms. There is also a member of Frodus in a guest on a title. In the course of 2010, a box of Norma Jean's first three works was created under the name Birds and Microscopes and Bottles of Elixirs and Raw Steak and a Bunch of Songs. In early 2013, a new album, Wrongdoers , was announced for the summer, after some line-up changes over the previous years: Jeff Hickey arrived on guitar, John Finnegan on bass and Clayton Holyoak on drummer. The combo chained the dates with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, Aeon, ... before teasing a new opus via the single "1,000,000 Watts" and a signature at Solid State Records. Polar Similar is available in early September 2016. After a few line-up changes (Phillip Farris replaces Chris Day, Clayton Holyoak leaves Norma Jean to join Every Time I Die and John Finnegan takes off), the combo gets back on the road and begins 2019 with a new start, that of Jeff Hickey. Not discouraged, the Americans announce an album, All Hail and deliver "Child Of The Dead", a B-Side by Polar Similar in clip. All Hail unloaded on October 24 with line up Cory Brandan, Phillip Farris, Christian Prince and Grayson Stewart.
