Biography
Obake (Japanese name): spirit or monster of the Japanese folkore, characterized by its metamorphic ability. Thanks Wikipedia.
Obake is therefore an Italian band. His name is a guide that opens the doors of his music. Slow, black, slippery. Doom sweating through all pores. It could have been any group, the Italians excelling in this exercise (Ufomammut , Dead Elephant , Lento ...) but which sees the parade in the place of bassist Massimo Pupillo ( Zu ) on his first eponymous record (2011) and Colin Edwin ( Porcupine Tree ) on Mutations (2014). Obviously, it attracts the ear. When one adds that the band likes to distil ambient or jazz into its tracks, one stops longer than expected.
