Originally from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), Paint It Black (title of a Rolling Stones song) was formed in 2002, following the separations of Lifetime and Kid Dynamite, by guitarist Dan Yemin and drummer David Wagenshutz. After recruiting Andy Nelson (Affirmative Action Jackson) to bass and Dave Hause (The Curse) to guitar, Paint It Black released a demo in 2002. Dan Yemin, a doctor in psychology, sings and writes the lyrics of committed songs, dealing very intelligently with politics, social problems and personal experiences. In February 2003, the band entered the Inner Ear (Washington D.C.) for the recording of its first album. Produced by J. Robbins ( Jets To Brazil , Dismemberment Plan , Promise Ring ), CVA is released in July at Jade Tree Records. A year later, a second guitarist, Colin McGinniss, joined the band and in July 2004, Dave Hause left Paint It Black to devote himself to another band, created in April, The Loved Ones. The concerts follow with Strike Anywhere, From Ashes Rise or Challenger. In September, Paint It Black recorded Paradise , his second album, at Phase College Park (Maryland), under the leadership of J. Robbins again. He was released in March 2005 at Jade Tree Records. He is acclaimed by the criticism: Paint It Black is now a group to be reckoned with. The band will then tour several festivals including Strike Anywhere , A Global Threat , Torche , The Loved Ones and participate in several festivals such as the Fury Fest in June 2005 (Le Mans, France) or the Posi Numbers Fest in July. In 2006, he made a European tour ave New Mexican Disaster Squad . That same year, David Wagenshutz left the band. Paint It Black then joined Jared Shavelson (The Hope Conspiracy , None More Black ) to complete his concerts. Then Joshua Agran (Affirmative Action Jackson , Knives Out ) replaces Colin McGinniss. In February 2007, Jared Shavelson officially joined the band.
