Papa Roach
Biography
Papa Roach is a Californian neo metal band formed in 1993 in the small town of Vacaville, California. The band formed in January 1993 when Jacoby Shadddix (Chant) met Dave Buckner (Battery) during an American football game where they discussed music. They were joined by trombonist Ben Luther, who was replaced very quickly by Jerry Horton (Guitare) and Will James (Basse). The band takes the name of Papa Roach the nickname of Jacoby's father, William Howard Roatch and repeats assiduously and participates in many concerts. In 1994 they signed a first ep entitled Potatoes For Chrismas and in 1995 a demo entitled Caca Bonita . The following year, Will James was replaced by Tobin Esperance at bass because he was too involved in a tying holiday camp that limited the possibilities of repetition. In 1997 Papa Roach released his first real album Old Friends From Young Years, which was an unexpected success on local radio stations. This interest in training allows him to play with Suicidal Tendencies, and the emerging bands of the Neo-Metal scene that are Hed P.E, Snot, Powerman 5000 or Static X. In 1998 Papa Roach released 5 Tracks Deep that runs more than 1000 copies during the first month of release, then Let 'Em Know the year after which will be the last independent production of California combo. They signed a contract with the record company Dreamworks Records in 1999, then recorded the album Infest in the year 2000, which is a real success selling more than three million copies and which becomes the fifth best sale of the year of any kind. Being propelled on the front of the scene Neo-Metal that is beating full, the combo takes advantage of it to turn alongside Eminem , E-40 or Xzibit during the Anger Management Tour, plays at the Ozzfest 2001 and the title Blood Brothers is even part of the game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. In 2002 Lovehatétragedy made a more Rock evolution of the band, but also sold very well, followed in 2004 by Getting Away With Murder who worked even better than the previous opus. In 2005, Papa Roach released his first live DVD: Live&Murderous In Chicago and spent almost all his time on tour alongside Slipknot and Skindred. For their fourth album, Papa Roach records in a house that will bear the name of the album: The Paramour Sessions . The idea came to them thanks to Slipknot who recorded Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses at the Houdini Mansion. This album, which is definitely directed towards a Rock sound, leaves the Metal influences of the first compositions aside and is released in 2006. The song Roses On My Grave pays tribute to Jacoby's father who died in 1996. Papa Roach then toured with Guns N' Roses and Deftones , but in 2007 drummer Dave Buckner did not participate in the tour to do a detoxification cure. He was replaced by Tony Palermo ( Unwriter Law). In 2008 Jacoby Shadddix announced Dave's final departure and his replacement by Tony, but also a new opus that took the name of Metamorphosis. The latter was published in 2009. Papa Roach shares the scene of Mötley Crüe, Seether, Staind and Nickelback. In 2010, the band's former label, Geffen Records, released in June a compilation of the band's greatest hits: To Be Loved . The band then asks fans not to buy it because it did not agree to the release of this album and that it does not affect sales. Time For Annihilation... On The Record & On The Road , Papa Roach's latest release was released the same year, but it is not an album itself, as it consists of five new titles and nine live recordings of old songs.
