Biography

Paris Violence , an atypical group in the French punk landscape, was formed in 1994 around Flav. Until today, the band has experienced various formations, with a single constant finally: the presence of Flav, singer and parolier of the band (also dealing with guitars or keyboards according to the albums). The first titles of Paris Violence are recorded in trio (with Thierry and Jérôme who come to pre-eminent hands at Flav). The first K7 demo was released a year later, followed by a second in 1996. The essential elements of combo music are already present: anchored in a tradition oi!-punk and using new- and cold-wave influences, Paris Violence depicts the urban morosity of the capital with poetic and realistic texts. The nihilist consonances of the lyrics often refer to Louis-Ferdinand Céline , a major and claimed influence of the group. Truncated with literary references (Céline precisely, Nietzsche , Cioran , Drieu la Rochelle , ...), the texts of Paris Violence , coupled with a music that on bases oi! punk is enriched with new-wave sounds and even heavy-metal sounds, imposing combo as a separate band. After participating in some compilations, Paris Violence released a first 4 tracks, Humeurs noirs , followed by Temps de crise and a split EP with Symphonie urbaine. In 1999, after the departures of Thierry and Jérôme, the band reduced itself to a "one-man band" with Flav alone at the controls which will therefore register solo the band's second album, Die in November. After a third EP (disappeared from the map), Flav surrounded Spirou (former Molodoi and Charge 69) to make the recording of the Ice Age. The album, mixing punk, oi! and cold-wave (with an increased use of synths) was released in 2001. Spirou then joined the band, thus reinforcing the choice of self-recording of Paris Violence , a particularity present from the origins of the combo, which moreover never performed in concert. Seconded by Daniel to the guitar, the band will release Ni Fleurs and Crowns, where hard-rock and heavy-metal influences are very present. A fourth EP, Cauchemar abyssal , will be born in 2002. In the wake, Flav will begin the composition of the songs of En Attendant l'Apocalypse, which will be released in 2003 and is often considered the most accomplished work of Paris Violence. In 2007, Trooper Records reissued old demos of the band, before the EP Les Mondes Flottants , inspired by Mishima and Japan from the samurais.
