Patti Smith
Biography
Patti Smith , a rock icon that became a cult since his first album Horses in 1974. Born in 1946, her life led her to the New York side in 1967, where she bathed in the cultural bubbling of the time; First of all poet, cap she will keep, she meets various artists and even makes theater. In 1971 she invited a friend of a rock columnist to come and play guitar during a public recitation of poems. This collaboration lasts a few years and takes on a little importance (add of a keyboard, the band takes up some standard rock, ...), Patti Smith writes some texts for Blue Öyster Cult. The band recorded a single with Hey Joe, Piss Factory, on which Tom Verlaine of Television was recorded on guitar. In 1975 they were offered to record an album, the band entered the studio with John Cale (ex Velvet Underground) and the first album composed of covers ( Gloria reprise de Them ), Spoken improvised words and original songs. This first album: Horses is one of the cornerstones (with the albums of The Stooges and some other pearls) of what will be called punk (which The Ramones, the Sex Pistols will be the first to popularize). The album, even though slammed by the radios of the time, entered the top 50 and launched the career of one of the greatest rockers who would follow the tracks: Pissing in the river , Ask The Angels , Because The Night (in collaboration with Bruce Springsteen ), Rock'n Roll nigger , Frederick (from Wave, one of Patti Smith's most commercial albums and which marked the beginning of a 9-year break). The singer returned in 1988 with Dream Of Life and disappeared again, a hard time for Patti Smith who lost many of the people she worked with as well as her husband Fred "Sonic" Smith from MC5 . Two years after her husband's disappearance she returns with Gone Again (where Jeff Buckley is found) and these albums are not mere come back, he keeps the Smith strength and flavor, even though now Patti has gray hair. She then released Peace And Noise , Gung Ho , and Trampin' (and her incredible Radio Badgad) in 2004. A long career that is not yet finished, finally hoping for it, because the new pieces of Patti Smith remain rock beads, an artist indispensable to discover rock'n roll, a great lady still militant and who has remained true.
