Biography

Line-up : - Bobby Liebling - Song - Kelly Carmichael - Guitar - Adam S. Heinzmann - Bass - Mike Smail - Battery
Pentagram is one of the very first formations of Doom Metal alongside Black Sabbath or Witchfinder General. Huge influence for countless groups, now cultivating, it has been able to pass through the epochs and numerous separations to survive still today, like Trouble. The peculiarity of Pentagram is that Liebling remains the only original member of a band with constant line-up changes and re-recorded songs from one album to the next. It was in 1971 that Bobby Liebling and Geof O They chose Pentagram's name and recruited Vincent McAllister (bass) and Steve Martin (drums). Note that even though they have changed their surname many times during their career, going from Virgin Death to Macabre or Wicked Angel, they have always returned to their original idea. It takes some time for a line-up with a minimum of stability to be established, which will be done at the end of 1971 with the classic line-up Bobby Liebling (chant), Vincent McAllister (guitar), Greg Mayne (bass) and Geof O-Keefe (battery). But the beginnings were chaotic, as the band failed to find a label, not least being rejected by Kiss members who found it irrelevant. Pentagram still manages to release some demos on small local labels, but nothing more. The coup de grace occurred in 1975 when Liebling was arrested by the police, the group being obliged to cease any activity because Liebling was the sole holder of the rights of the name Pentagram. In 1980 Death Row was formed by Lee Abney and Victor Griffin, who recruited Liebling. Soon he decided to revive Pentagram by forming the "classic 80s line-up", supported by Griffin (guitar), Joe Hasselvander (battery) and Martin Swaney (bass) in replacement of Abney. It took five years for the reborn band to release a first eponymous album, later renamed Relentless by Peaceville Records. Two years later Day of Reckoning was born and it was thought that the adventure was launched, but the band split up soon after. Pentagram reformed in 1993, released a year later his third album Be Forewarned , and folded again. The band resurfaced as a duo formed by Liebling and Hasselvander in 1999 with a new album, Review your Choices , followed by Sub-Basement in 2001. Shortly after Hasselvander went, and Liebling recruited a new line-up composed of members of Internal Void. Together, they recorded Show How Em in 2004. In 2006, Vincent McAllister died of cancer. Since 2001, Peaceville Records has been focusing on the re-release of albums and the release of many compilations, such as First Dazed Here (The Vintage Collection). In addition, it should be noted that all the members played at some point in Bedemon, a sort of "for fun" band founded in 1973 that only released a compilation in 2005.
