Biography

Peter Morén, Björn Yttling and John Eriksson, all from northern Sweden, joined their surnames in 1999 to form Peter Bjorn and John. Influenced by a pop starring towards Cold Wave, their first album, eponymous, was released in 2002, favourably received by the national press as one of the best Swedish pop albums of the time. It was only two years later, however, in 2004, that the band began to find an echo in its country, leaving Falling Out, more punky, more poppy and more catchy at once.
Another step was taken in 2006 with Writer's Block . More introspective, more collective (the three members shared the songwriting and the microphone during the recording), the album allows the band to become known across national borders. The single "Young Folks", his stripped melody and his whistle intro, propel them to the front of the pop scene and even, in France, to the point of being the anthem of Canal+'s weather that year.
Once again wishing to change direction, Peter Bjorn and John decided in 2008 to pay tribute to their origins, far from the glitters, and went back to the north of the country to compose an album almost exclusively instrumental, flirting with the traditional music of the seaside villages of their regions and letting themselves express themselves, through monologues, the people of these fishing harbours today forgotten. Seaside Rock was born in October 2008.
