Biography

Petrol Girls is an English Riot Grrrl band formed in London in 2012 by Ren Aldridge (Guitare / Chant) and Liepa KuraitÄ— (Basse / Chant). Joe York (Guitare / Chant) and May Mansour (Battery) join them later. The name of the group comes from the Petroluses which is a term is the term describing a woman accused of having used oil to ignite fires, in 1871, during the fires in Paris during the crushing of the Paris Commune by the Versaillais. In his texts, Petrol Girls mainly evokes capitalism and feminism. After an eponymous one in 2014, the band changed drummer and recruited Zock Astpai for the recording of theep Some Thing and Talk Of Violence album in 2016. We discover a band that mixes Post-Hardcore and Punk Hardcore with an Indie Rock side. A new ep, The Future Is Dark , arrives in 2018 followed by the second album Cut And Stitch in 2019 with a signature on Hassle Records label. Liepa Kuraite left the training shortly after and was replaced by Robin Gatt at the bass. Petrol Girls returns with Baby in 2022 incorporating Noise Rock and Math Rock influences into her music without losing by biting and revolting.
