Biography
Born in 1991, Margaret Chardiet was born from Queens in New York where she grew up in a family claiming to be part of the Punk movement (her father was a guitarist, her painter mother...). At 17, she moved to the Far Rockaway neighbourhood where she moved with some friends. This house will soon become the home of the Red Light District, a collective focused on the extreme music of the electronic sphere. Besides Chardiet, there is also Frank Ludovico, a member of the Yellow Tears trio. Between 2009 and 2012, the Red Light District organizes the Burning Fleshtival, an event where bands and DJs affiliated with Noise and experimental music meet each year. Margaret Chardiet then built himself artistically speaking. His first CD-R and K7 recordings were sold or given at concerts. In 2013, Abandon released on the label Sacred Bones Records ( Zola Jesus , Moon Duo , The Men ...) and reveals Pharmakon to a wider audience and eager for thrills. In line, Bestial Burden was released in 2014 while Contact , still appeared in 2017 at Sacred Bones Records and then Devour in 2019. Covid arrives and Pharmakon returns to France December 2023 and releases a new album called Maggot Mass, still via Sacred Bones Records in October 2024.
