Biography

Philm was born in Los Angeles in 2010 at the initiative of Dave Lombardo, an illustrious drummer of the planetary metal scene with a rather impressive CV. Known for these main groups that are or have been Slayer, Grip Inc. and Fantomas, he also collaborated more or less occasionally with John Zorn, Apocalyptica, Testament or Voodoocult. Philm is therefore a side-project in the form of a power-trio for which Lombardo is accompanied by Gerry Nestler (of the prog-metal group Civil Defiance) and Pancho Tomaselli (member of the Californian funk rock collective War). The three have different background music and this seems to please them at the time of setting up Philm, a fusion project metal/noise/punk/jazz/funk, which delivers a first long-format album in spring 2012 under the title Harmonic and via the reference label Ipecac Recordings. Two years later, the band surprises its world by signing on the German label UDR (Europe , Saxon , Motörhead ) to release Fire From The Evening Sun , second long of the trio.
