Planes Mistaken For Stars
Biography
Gared O'Donnell - singing, guitar Neil Keener - bass Chuck French - guitar Mike Ricketts - drums
Originally from Peoria, Illinois, Planes Mistaken For Stars was founded in 1997 by Gared O'Donnell and Matt Bellinger on the ashes of Dismiss. Mike Ricketts (beater) and Aaron Wise (bassist) complete the troupe. In 1999, he left the group that found him a successor in the person of Jamie Drier, an old acquaintance since he was already part of Dismiss's adventure. The band then moved to Denver (Colorado) and released in April an eponymous debut album on the Deep Elm Records label, which was in fact only a reissue of a self-produced album in 1998. Under this training, Planes Mistaken For Stars recorded Fuck with Fire in 2001 on the label No Idea Records. Chuck French replaced Jamie Drier in 2003. That same year, the Colorado quartet contributed to Black Flag's tribute album in the form of "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme", for the vinyl version, and "Wasted" for the CD version. Fuck With Fire's successor finally released in July 2004. Entitled Up In Them Guts, it is recorded by AJ Mogis at Lincoln Presto Studios in Nebraska. Planes Mistaken For Stars signs on the Abacus label a year later. In January 2006, Matt Belanger decided to devote himself to Ghost Buffalo alone, Planes Mistaken For Stars called on Mike Ricketts, an old acquaintance, as an officer behind the drums. At the end of the year, the band entered the studio under the direction of Matt Bayles ( Isis ) to record its fourth album, Mercy . After a break of several years, the band began to shoot again and in 2016 offered us a new album, Prey , by Deathwish Inc.
