Biography

Jeffrey Fisher (Guitare / Chant) Adam Goldstein (Guitare / Chant) Eric "Bull" Gervasi (Basse) Chris Fry (Battery)
(1989 - 1995). Originally from New Jersey, taking their name from a social principle used in the 1930s in China (a group of 3 peasants using non-violent means to increase the power of their social class), often compared to Moss Icon or Still Life, Policy Of 3 is influenced by the hardcore punk scene in New York and the Washington DC Sound. The discography of the band is a pair of 7' and an album, released between 1993 and 1994. Policy Of 3 gathers multiple emo hardcore milestones and draws a line between the west side of Drive Like Jehu and the east coast of Fugazi. In 2004, Ebullition Records brought together all the titles of Policy Of 3 and some live on a double CD entitled An Anthology . "Though Policy of 3 is probably considered an Emo band due to theera in which we exist, I will always think of us as a hardcore/punk band, because the band was inspired by the best elements of the New York City hardcore/punk and Dischord scenes of the late 1980's and early 1990's. Ever, the real motivation behind the band and the urgency directed to our music probably had more to do with the absurdities which were frequently and consistently expanded from the hardcore/punk scene before and during our early days as a band. This was a time of skinheads and the spectacular implosion of the straightedge scene on the East Coast when the self-righteous fell off the wagon. This was a time of Hare Krishna and vegan faism; two brief epochs which made so many punks look so stupid. This was a time style seen to triumph over substance. This was a time of creating marketing and slick professionalism. This was a time when hardcore bands favoured the Gulf War. This was a time when Punk Rock merged with metal then merged with Grunge. This record might sound hoplessly dated and irrelevant in the year 2004 (and beyond). However, at the time these songs represented an expected to create something all our own, something that was removed from the machismo of the pit and the esoterica of post punk."
