Originally from Montreal, Preying Hands was born in 2008 of the ash of Ballast, whose separation was effective at the end of 2006. Three of his members, Spoke (song), Dave (battery) and Steve (guitar), decided to continue playing together and joined the services of Hal at bass and Brendan at guitar, both from Montreal bands (Snake Master, Desperate Living, Last Days). The first album by Preying Hands , entitled Through The Dark , produced by Mark Lawson ( Arcade Fire , Weird ) and mastered by Dan Randall ( Limp Wrist , Government Warning ), was released in June 2009 via Inimical Records, and in Europe by Fight For Your Mind (France), Trujaca Fala (Poland), Ruinnation and Contraszt Records (Germany).
