Biography

Child of the bubbling underground British scene of the Thatcher Prolapse era was born in Leicester in 1991. The group formed in the most complete improvisation around a jam caused by the ethyl meeting of "Scottish" Mick Derrick (chant), who had torn himself from his native land to the pursuit of archaeology studies, Mick Harisson (bass), Tim Pattison (battery) and Pat Marsden (guitar). First of all decided to move towards a dark and depressive voice the band, quickly completed by David Jeffreys (guitar) and Linda Steelyard (chant), whose main merit was first to be there at the right place at the moment, will however quickly move towards a combination of piles of noise guitars, Pop, Shoegaze and Post Punk heritage and Krautrock rehearsal. A surprising mix that the band fixed as early as 1993-94 on physical media by releasing no less than three singles and an album in a few months. The band is noticed by sharp, tense pieces, with an intrusive rhythmic section and fed by the double schizophrenic and theatrical singing of its two voices. The formula will no longer leave them for nearly ten years, during which period the sextuor - then septuor - will visit the four corners of its biscorned musical spectrum on a total of no less than fifteen releases (singles, EPs and albums included), thus continuing to fuel its own singularity both in studio and on stage. Dead and buried since the dawn of the 2000s, Prolapse still remains a separate band, atypical in a scene without a real name and a little forgotten because it was born on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Anonymous but capital and of which Prolapse is probably one of the last representatives. Members of the group have since dispersed across Europe embracing sometimes the professional future that their presence in Leicester in the early 1990s promised them (archaeology for Mick Derrick, professor for David Jeffreys, journalism for Linda Steelyard...) or new formations (MJ Hibbett&The Validators with whom we find a Tim Pattison assagi).
