Pyramaze

Pyramaze formed in 2001 in Denmark around drummer Morten G. Sørensen and keyboardist Jonah Weingarten, the only original members still in the current line-up. Nevertheless, there was Lance King, the boss of the Nightmare Records label, on which Myrath , Anubis Gate , Teramaze , were signed between 2001 and 2006. The quintet released Melancholy Beast in 2004, included a sixth member (a second guitarist in the person of Toke Skjønnemand, still in office today), and published Legend Of The Bone Carver in 2006. These two dark and melodic progressive metal albums seduce Evergrey or Dream Theater fans. Very well received by critics, these records open the doors of the prestigious ProgPower USA 2006 festival in Pyramaze, but Lance King hangs up after this concert. Matt Barlow, singer of Iced Earth until 2003 having since embraced a career in the police, decides to return to the Metal scene and becomes the vocalist of Pyramaze in 2007. He will record the album Immortal but will leave the band even before its release to focus on Iced Earth, which he re-enters. He will be replaced by Urban Breed (bloodbound ) to tour with Volbeat . In early 2011, Michael Kammeyer (guitarist since the beginning), Niels Kvist (bassist since the beginning), and the new singer left the adventure. The two musicians will be replaced by a single man, guitarist/bassist, in the person of Jacob Hansen (singer of Invocator and ex-singer of Anubis Gate , ex-gratteux of Beyond Twilight , but also producer and engineer of the sound of Pyramaze, but also of metal bands from all backgrounds, including Epica , Aborted , Heaven Shall Burn , Evergrey , Persefone , Volbeat ...). After many years without a singer, Pyramaze recruited Terje Haroy to sing and released Disciples Of The Sun in 2015. drummer Morten G. Sørensen integrates Anubis Gate while remaining engaged in Pyramaze . The band returned to ProgPower USA in 2016, ten years after their first appearance there. Former singers Lance King and Matt Barlow are invited on stage for the occasion. Danes release Quota at the end of April 2017, with the same line-up as Disciplines Of The Sun.
