Originally from Sweden, Raised Fist formed in 1993 at the very beginning of the European hardcore scene. According to oral memory, the surname was inspired by a phrase from Rage Against The Machine on the song "Know Your Enemy". It takes only one year for the Scandinavian training to record its first ep, You're Not Like Me. Two years later, Raised Fist began his consecration during the release of Stronger Than Ever. Acclaimed by the critics, the group generated such power and energy that the rapprochements with the Boston and Washington cult formations went well. At the end of 1998, Raised Fist signed his first album, Fuel , on the label Burning Heart. Two more will follow, Ignoring the Guidelines and Dedication. It takes until 2006 for Raised Fist to release his fourth album. Produced by Daniel Bergstand, an old acquaintance, Sound of the Republic marks a turning point in his discography. Although, initially, the Swedish were strongly influenced by the US hardcore backguard (Minor Threat , Sick Of It All ), the band is now moving towards a more metalcore sound.
