Biography
This is a band that it is complicated to get into a well-defined box, as the music of the Montreal-born quartet punctures its influence in a multitude of styles, rap, hip-hop, electronica, beatbox, folk, indie rock... About twenty Fran and Fab want to create but without definite ideas about the domain. One evening during a release they go to a "Free Scene" at $5, Fab au capot proposes to the vigil to go on stage to sing a song in exchange for the free entrance, the type asks them what name is what he should record, the answer: Random Recipe . Music is a must. The melting-pot starts in the form of a Jam between the two friends, it is later while the duo is eagerly booked by a festival, that Fran in the obligation to create a line-up in haste, appeals to a childhood buddy of his brother, who himself gathers an old friend. Vincent and Liu-Kong are now in the game. In 2008, Spin Magazine ranked Random Recipe among the five Montreal bands to watch. We must wait until 2010 to see the band disembark with a first real album, Fold It! Mold It! Bonsound, a jazzy concentrate of rock, electro, songs that make sense and tell a story, in an atmosphere of lightness and spontaneity that continues to characterize the four quebecois today. This first jet that already drives the group on European roads via France and Belgium was remixed the following year, resulting in an EP named Shake It! Bake It!; there are artists with whom Random Recipe dreamed of collaborating, including DJ Brace, MHMHMH and Captain Soldat. In 2013 the quartet put it back with Kill the Hook, the identity of its predecessor persists, the growing reputation of the combo does not influence its creativity, on the contrary, since each country crossed by it is an additional source of inspiration. With this second mischief Random Recipe is still gaining in color, offering new and more dancing creations.
