Red Sparowes

Red Sparowes is a project that is due to the initiative of Josh Graham (Guitare), director of clips at his own time and also responsible for the visual creations of Neurosis. Wanting to express himself now by sound, he will surround Bryant Clifford Meyer (Guitare) and Jeff Caxide (Basse) who work at Isis, Greg Burns (Basse/Pedale Steel), as well as Dana Berkowitz (Battery). Formed in 2003, the group naturally lands on the label founded by Neurosis , Neurot Recordings . In addition to the friendly relations maintained between the various groups concerned, Red Sparowes' music is nonetheless part of the artistic logic of the label: the rejection of any form of complacency. As musicians can boast of a certain experience after Andy Arahood ( Angel Hair ) and David Clifford ( Pleasure Forever ) replaced Jeff Caxide and Dana Berkowitz, they will soon set up what will become their first album At The Soundless Dawn. The band did not need to wait for its release in February 2005 to defend it on stage, with bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Made Out Of Babies, Pelican and Breather Resist during the summer of 2005. In addition, three splits follow this exit. One with Gregor Samsa , the other with Grails , and the last one with Triad with Made Out Of Babies and Battle Of Mice , the two bands of singer Julie Christmas. After the tour, the band began writing a second album, Every Red Heart Shines Towards The Red Sun in 2006, and then returned to the American and European roads alongside Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds. At the same time, a live album was released the same year: Oh Lord, God of Vengeance, Show Yourself! . In 2008, Josh Graham, the creator of Red Sparowes, abandoned the band for his new musical toy: A Storm Of Light. The remaining members do not let themselves down, recruit Brendan Tobin (Guitare) and record the ep Aphorisms with the help of Toshi Kasai (The Melvins , Big Business , Tool ), but one feels that the enthusiasm of the beginnings is no longer there. In 2009, Emma Ruth Rundle replaced Brendan Tobin as guitarist and Red Sparowes returned to the studio to record The Fear Is Excrucing, But Therein Lies The Answer. This one was released in 2010 on Sargent House.
