Biography

In 1989 in Umea, Sweden, Dennis Lyxzen founded Step Forward . It will be the first Swedish group to claim membership of the Straight Edge movement, which was very important in the US. After 2 demos, the band experienced an avalanche of misconceptions and the musicians eventually separated. Denying failure, Dennis formed a new group called Denied in 1992. The same year, Denied recorded 2 demos and Henrik Jansson, former guitarist of Step Forward joined the band. 1993 is the year of signature with Burning Heart Records and the year of release of their first real record: This Is The New Deal. After a few line-up changes, Denied became one of the major groups on the European Hardcore scene in 1995. This recognition will allow them to tour in the United States alongside Snappase. Songs To Fan The Flames of Discontent, released in 1996, will support the personality of Swedish and an innovative hardcore who will soon break the lines. In 1997, the band began writing The Shape of Punk to Come, which marked an important musical turn. The formation tries with this disc to mix Hardcore with multiple influences (jazz, techno, pop...) while playing with the intensity, speed and aggressiveness of Punk. The result is a masterful record that will never have an equivalent: This is the new noise! Following the electroshock produced by this album, the band continues a Scandinavian tour with bands of Burning Heart (No fun at all, The Hives ...) and a huge 7-week tour in the USA that will mark their separation. "Refused are fucking dead!" But in fact, Denied isn't that dead since he decides to come back to the front of the stage, Coachella's one in 2012, where the Swedish announce their reformation, and then engage in European festivals such as Hellfest, Sonisphere and Eurockean. In 2013, or at the end of 2014 we don't know too much, guitarist Jon Brännström leaves the band, he will be replaced by Kristofer Steen. And it is quite natural that a fourth studio album was released in 2015, Freedom , signed by Epitaph. The band continued the tours again and ended up releasing War Music in 2019, hosted by Spinefarm Records. Dennis Lyxzén – singing David Sandström - drums, Kristofer Steen guitar - guitar, drums, bass Magnus Flagge (formerly Björklund) - bass
