Revocation
Biography
Revocation is a technical death/thrash group from Boston. It was founded in 2000 on the benches of the Lycée by David Davidson in guitar and singing, Anthony Buda in bass and singing, and Phil Dubois-Coyne in drums. The band was then called Cryptic Warning, a name by which they recorded two demos and a studio album. The three companions changed their names to Revocation in 2006, an opportunity for them to make a new start. Two years later, in 2008, they released a demo (Summon the Spawn ) and an album (Empire of the Obscene ), both self-produced. The band played regional concerts and released Existence Is Futile in 2009 under the label Relapse Records. The sound of Revocation is characterized by dissonant riffs, bass breaks and "shred" soli, all enhanced by a double galloping pedal, very fast tempos and hard rock-type breakdowns. Song is a growl of death metal that sometimes shoots at the grind. It all gives an explosive mixture of technical death and thrash. Note also the jazz influences brought by the guitarist who took classes at the Berklee College of Music where he studied jazz and polyrhythm. In 2011, Revocation released its third album, Chaos Of Forms . The band was joined by guitarist Dan Gargiulo who until then followed them on their tours without being an official member.
