Biography

Born in 1948 in France, Richard Gotainer began his career in 1972 not in song but in advertising, despite some passages in Parisian cabarets during his studies. He co-creates Gatkess agency two years later, responsible for many famous spots (which will be regrouped in 1985 on the record Poil À La Pub), and soon meets guitarist Claude Engel (ex- Magma, in particular), with whom he collaborates for pubs and then for songs. Je Rêve Que Je Vais , first 45 laps, was released in 1976, followed in 1977 by the first album, Le Forgeur De Tempos , then Contes De Traviole in 1979. During the 1980s, only two real albums appeared, Chants Zazous in 1982 (which contained titles such as Le Mambo Du Décalco , La Ballade De L'Obsédé or Trois Vieux Papis ) and Vive La Gaule in 1987 (inspired by Asterix Le Gaulois and accompanied by the release of a comic strip illustrated by Uderzo and Gotlib), but it was without counting on the multiple singles that contributed greatly to his fame: Primitive , Le Youki , Femmes à Goilles , or Le Sampa which appeared on the original band of Le Maître D'École in 1981. Despite appearances on various compilations, it will take until 2005 to see the release of an album exclusively dedicated to these tracks (then released only in 45T), La Planète Des Singles . Along with his musical career, Gotainer wrote the screenplay of the film Rendez-Vous Au Tas De Sable , which was finally born in 1990 (with a mixed success), and of which he also signed the B.O. (in which the opera singer Franck Villano, actor Jean-Claude Leguay, singer Zahia, and Bernie Bonvoisin from Trust participated). He returned to the song in 1992 with D'Amour Et D'Orage, then the very Rock Elle Est Pas Belle La Vie ?!? in 1994, followed by the first live album, Le Gotainer Band En Public . 1997 saw the release of the latest album for a while with Tendance Banane , which also revealed the latest collaboration with Claude Engel. In 2004, Gotainer presented his musical show, La Goutte Au Pépère , written with novelist and screenwriter Éric Kristy, and whose music was signed Étienne Perruchon. Then in 2008 released a new album, Species De Bonobo , in collaboration this time with Michaël Lapie. A live recording appeared two years later, titled As At La Maison . After several years of lean cow, two new titles were released in 2017, announcing an album for 2018.
