Biography

Rodrigo Y Gabriela is a Mexican duo playing a fast Flamenco with influences from Rock to Folk and Metal. Rodrigo Sánchez (solo guitar) and Gabriela Quintero (rhythm guitar) meet in Thrash-Metal's band, Tierra Acida , while they are still young only then benefiting from a modest local success. The frustration of the musical reach of the Mexican scene and the desire to travel push them to Europe and especially to Dublin in Ireland where they have been living since. They did not take long to attract labels and then signed Re-Foc in 2002 among the Irish Rubyworks. A great tour in Ireland and the UK follows and allows them to perform alongside Buena Vista Social Club, Courtney Pine and Damien Rice. In 2006, Rodrigo Y Gabriela released an eponymous record that saw the duo's coast take off in a boom. Produced by John Leckie, (Muse , Radiohead ), the album ranks as one of the Irish charts thanks in particular to the acoustic covers of Orion ( Metallica ) and Stairway To Heaven ( Led Zeppelin ) who have made the success of the musicians since. Internationally known, the group continues to occur all over the world; They also recorded two live performances: Live: Manchester And Dublin and Live In Japan, which were released in 2004 and 2008. Rodrigo Y Gabriela announces a new opus for 2009 : 11:11 .
