Satyricon
Biography
Satyricon formed in Oslo, Norway in 1991. The group revolves around the famous pair consisting of Satyr (aka Sigurd Wongraven) and Frost (aka Kjetil Vidar Haraldstad). The first is responsible for almost all compositional work, namely singing, bass parts, guitar parts, and keyboards. Frost, on the other hand, took on the task of hammering the drums with the style that he was later unanimously recognized. Along with the emerging Black-Metal scene, Satyricon will record several demos in 1992 that will gather praise from the community. Despite their young age, the Norwegians feel slender ready to cross the course of the first album. This will be done in 1993 with Dark Medieval Times, an album marking the beginning of the long cooperation between the band and the Moonfog label. After showing their abilities in the true black genre, Satyr and Frost however do not intend to leave it there. It was with the participation of Samoth ( Emperor ) as bassist that The Shadowthrone came out in 1994, in which the northern/viking side grew to its full extent. It is therefore natural to see Satyricon humanly approaching Enslaved, as attested by the split The Forest Is My Throne made in 1995. Always eager to evolve through the albums, the combo will take another crucial step for his career in 1996 with Nemesis Divina. In addition to its increased violence, this time the album includes a guitarist named Kveldulv, better known as Nocturno Culto in the mythical Darkthrone. Satyr doesn't hide that he always wants to move forward. Looking at two EPs, Sieur Wongraven will radically break with medieval-Scandinavian imagery of the genre in 1999 on Rebel Extravaganza. Satyricon then enjoys the support of the sizes of the Metal which are Pantera, the latter offering them to accompany them around the world (the DVD Roadkill Extravaganza ) as the first part. Then in 2002, the album Volcano will definitely crown their Black Metal explorer status. Despite being criticized by purists because of the integration of Thrash and Rock'n Roll elements, success is still at hand. In 2006, Now, Diabolical, in the line of Volcano , left the Black-Metal from the early days. At the end of 2008 will be released The Age Of Nero , a new album of the increasingly accessible band.
