Serj Tankian

Serj Tankian was born on 21 August 1967 in Beirut, Lebanon. He is a musician best known for being the leader of System Of A Down in which he acts as a singer, occasional keyboardist and secondary guitarist. At the age of eight, his family immigrated to Los Angeles. At the University of California he began instrumental practice, wrote lyrics and met Daron Malakian and Shavo Odajian with whom he founded Soil in 1992, who changed his name in 1994 to System Of A Down. From 1994 to 2006, System Of A Down established itself as one of the most influential bands on the international Metal scene with albums that have now become cults thanks to Serj Tankian's particular singing. Serj Tankian is a very productive artist committed to social, humanitarian and peaceful causes. In particular, he partnered with Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine ) with whom he created Axis Of Justice, a project aimed at attracting young people to the causes of Tankian and Morello, especially through concerts and radio broadcasts. A live album, Concert Series Volume 1, was released in 2004. He also directed various artists under his label Serjical Strike, created with the aim of promoting the development and development of alternative music. Under this label he co-signs the Serart project, with Arto Tuncboyaciyan, in addition to producing (and singing on some songs) the album Enter The Chicken by guitarist Buckethead. He has participated in numerous collaborations with groups such as Snot, Deftones, The Nightwatchman or the Rita Mitsouko. Also poet at his hour, Serj Tankian signs Cool Gardens, a collection of poetry published by MTV Books. System Of A Down being in hiatus for a few years, Serj Tankian started a solo career with a first album, Elect The Dead in 2007. On March 9, 2010, Elect The Dead Symphony was released, a live album recorded with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra reproducing most of the songs from the previous album. While Serj Tankian performed alone for the first time on stage in Armenia on 12 August 2010, Imperfect Harmonies arrived in September of the same year.
