Serpentcult
Biography
The story of SerpentCult begins on the still smoking ashes of Thee Plague of Gentlemen , a band of Doom barré in which the underground stage veterans Steven ‘LQW' Van Cauwenbergh and Frederik 'Cozy' Cosemans (Leng Tch The trio, active since 1998, started to make a name, having released a first album in 2005 by I Hate Records . However, the Belgian formation disappeared violently when Steve Mac was arrested and charged with the rape of several young children. Suffice it to say that the two survivors sought to get away as quickly as possible from their ex-singer, but without abandoning the music. Thus SerpentCult took shape in 2006 - the name of the former-future second album by Thee Plague of Gentlemen - with the recruitment of another barouder in the person of Frederic Caure (Pantheist ) to the position of guitarist, the other two taking on the singing. However, not really comfortable in this role, they quickly appeal to Michelle Nocon, whose arrival as a singer marks the definitive evolution of the line-up of the formation. It takes the band only a short time to start recording a first EP, which was released in 2007 at I Hate Records, under the title Trident Nor Fire. The extremely enthusiastic reception the record meets allows the training to chain the dates before signing at Rise Above Records in early 2008. SerpentCult starts soon after the composition work for a first album with Greg Chandler (Esoteric ) at the controllers. The result is an album entitled Weight of Light , released at the end of the year.
